HEATHER ROBINSON, ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

Heather RobinsonHeather Robinson, Ph.D.
Rutgers University

Office: AC 2A13A
Phone: 718-262-2479
Email: hrobinson@york.cuny.edu

Heather Robinson is an Assistant Professor in the English Department. She is the Coordinator of the York College Writing Fellows, and teaches English 125, Introduction to College Writing.

Heather began teaching composition while finishing her dissertation in Linguistics. Her research brings the two fields together by looking at how semantic theory can be applied in the composition classroom. She is currently exploring how definite descriptions function in writing, and what their behavior can tell us about how we construct written discourse.

Her grammar workbook, Grammar that Works: Building Your Paper from the Words Up, was written to help developmental writers work with sentence-level error in the context of the ideas they are developing in their own papers. The custom publication is currently being piloted in several college writing programs.
