I was recently looking at the web site of the Association for Women in Mathematics: Association for Women in Mathematics There I saw the following information that was available via the National Science Foundation: "Recent statistics from the U.S. National Science Foundation: Statistics. In 2004, women earned: 46% of bachelor's degrees in mathematics and statistics (see Table C-4), 45% of master's degrees in mathematics and statistics (see Table E-2), and 29% of Ph.D.s in mathematics and statistics (see Table F-2)." I did not have time to look at time series data here but certainly many more women are getting degrees in mathematics/statistics now than was true when I went to college and graduate school.
