Dr. Werber’s early research focused on cardiac rehabilitation, then shifted towards obese school-aged children to examine risk factors for cardiovascular disease in childhood and methods of prevention. At present, Dr. Werber’s research is focused on the effect of peer-based exercise training to promote physical activity behavior and psychological well being in diverse urban college students. Dr. Werber is the director of the Movement Science Major. This is the first program at CUNY to obtain accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) through the Committee on Accreditation for the Exercise Sciences (CoAES). In addition, she serves as a Site Visitor for CoAEs. Dr. Werber was the President of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Greater New York Regional Chapter during 2021.
