Professor Hickey received her AAS degree in Nursing from Queensborough Community College in 1993; finished a BSN in Nursing at Molloy College in 1996; and completed an MSN in Nursing Education at Walden University in 2015. She has practiced many years in the pre-op ad post-anesthesia care unit as a clinical nurse, quality specialist, and educator and has developed education platforms in her specialty. Additionally, Professor Hickey holds a certification as a diabetes educator and has developed simulation modalities for teaching diabetes care and management. Professor Hickey is pursuing her Ph.D. in Nursing at Pace University and has research interests in nursing education for pre-licensure nursing students, specifically simulation, health literacy, and diabetes management.
