Manisha Adhikari
Public Health (BS), Class of 2024
Manisha has gained valuable, real world experience interning at Advocacy Humanity Reimagination Change (AHRC), where she has acquired firsthand knowledge of best practices for improving physical fitness and mobility, as well as reducing mental health issues among residents and supporting chronic disease management. She has conceptualized innovative communication strategies for engaging with non-verbal patients, helping them construct vision boards to inspire positive behavior, actions, and beliefs.
Health Initiative Impact: Manisha is deeply interested in the environmental impacts on public health and actively advocates to educate people about the dangers and preventive measures they can take for their families. She writes articles on climate change, air pollution, and the risks associated with lead exposure, making them available through various internet channels to reach a broader audience.
What’s Next: As Manisha prepares to begin her graduate studies, she looks forward to applying her skills and expertise to health initiatives in multicultural settings, where her proficiency in Nepali, Hindi, and Urdu will also be invaluable in assisting the South Asian community and broader populations. In Summer of 2024, Manisha advanced in her public health career career when she joined the staff of the South Asian Council of Social Services (SACSS) in Flushing, Queens.
