York College Launches Master of Social Work Program
The reception was held at the Milton G. Bassin Performing Arts Center at York College, of the City University of New York (CUNY).
Dr. Selena T. Rodgers, long-time Southeast Queens resident, associate professor and MSW Program Founding Director in the Department of Social Work, School of Health Sciences and Professional Programs, at York College, affirmed her enthusiasm to see a decade of painstaking efforts and vision for the MSW Program actualized.
The MSW Program at CUNY York College was born out of the unwavering advocacy of York alumni and the community’s desire to educate social work practitioners in an intellectually rigorous urban environment. The program aims to build upon the foundation of professional social work values and ethics, while providing professional opportunities for Master Social Work Scholars in a variety of healthcare sectors and settings. The historical event closed with Queens Borough President, the Hon. Melinda Katz, bestowing Dr. Panayiotis Meleties (Provost & Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs) and Dr. Selena T. Rodgers (Associate Professor and MSW Program Founding Director) with a Proclamation and designation of Friday, May 18, 2018 as “MSW Program Day at York College.” The notable recognition received cheers from the audience.
