Dr. Shawn Williams Lectures at Performance Enhancement Seminar

This fall Professor Shawn Williams was a guest speaker at a performance enhancement seminar hosted by the USA Track and Field (USATF- the governing body of track and field).

The event took place at Harlow Platts Community Park in Boulder, Colorado and is concurrently held with the USATF 5K National Masters Cross Country Championships. 

“USATF, in conjunction with T.E.A.M. Boulder provided a week of great learning and running to coaches and athletes that hail from all over the United States,” said Dr. Williams.  “Many Olympic athletes who make the Boulder area their home, such as Colleen De Reuck, Benji Durden, Adam Goucher, Kara Goucher, Joe Klecker, Alicia Monson, and Jake Riley, who were also among the invited guest speakers.” 

The focus of Williams’ lecture was on Performance Enhancement in Youth Running: The Effect of Mental Training with Biofeedback.  He is a certified USATF Level Two (Endurance) Coach, and has spoken on topics in the performance enhancement arena for over a decade.  In the past he has also given lectures at the Olympic Training Center. 

*Dr. Williams is the Program Coordinator of Health Science at York College and Academic Chair of Health Professions Department. He has obtained clinical sub-specialty certifications in Functional Medicine and Clinical Biomechanics of Posture. Dr. Williams’ scholarly works are in the social science arena - focusing on occupational stressors of Alternative Medicine Practitioners. His scholarly interests include methodological, conceptual, and theoretical contributions to regeneration medicine; specifically examining the role of chiropractic and complementary/alternative healthcare within the larger health care system (organization, financing, utilization, practice/provision, policy). He has written several books, handbooks, book chapters and presented extensively in his field. His areas of expertise include Medical and Health Science Educator, Academic Administrator, Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner and Running Coach.
