Nursing Students Participate in Breast Cancer Awareness Walk

Three York College Nursing students recently represented their program when they walked in the Jones Beach breast cancer awareness event.

The senior students' participation was planned on short notice so they were "not there in our numbers," as participant Ruth-Anne Appleby, explained. "We planned it the night before. However, we represented York's Nursing [program]."

The students, Ruth-Anne Appleby, Cheyenne Johnson, and Mariqua Phifer, respectively, also had the opportunity to meet US Senator Charles "Chuck" Schumer, a fellow-participant in the walk. They also proudly wrote a message on behalf of their school to let it be known that York College was "in the march."
