Adjunct Lecturer "Sekou" awarded Outstanding Contribution to Publishing citation

Congratulations to Adjunct Lecturer Andrew “Sekou” Jackson (Black Studies), who has been awarded the Outstanding Contribution to Publishing citation by the Black Caucus of the American Library Association.

Together with Marva DeLoach and Michele Fenton, Professor Jackson co-edited the third edition of the Handbook of Black Librarianship (2025, Rowman & Littlefield), the work for which the citation was awarded. In addition to serving as a faculty member, Jackson is also an alumnus of York College, where he completed his undergraduate studies.

“This recognition is a testament to the legacy of Black librarians’ triumphs, their perseverance through challenges, and their commitment to serving communities across our nation,” said Jackson. “My career in librarianship has allowed me to reach even greater heights than I ever imagined. My educational experience at York helped cement a solid foundation from which I was able to build my career.”
