Program Overview
The majority of Communications Technology (CT) classes are project-based, immersing students in contemporary content creation workflows. The program focuses on the rapidly evolving landscape of digital media through students developing streaming media content, designing graphics for social platforms, and creating dynamic websites. Emphasizing creativity and technical expertise, each project helps students build a professional portfolio, showcasing their ability to produce innovative content for a variety of platforms, including social media, streaming services, and web applications.
A standout feature of the CT program is the continuous development of web-based portfolios throughout the curriculum. In every project-based course, students compile their work, process notes, and critiques from peers and faculty into an evolving portfolio. By their senior year, students will have assembled a robust collection of projects, demonstrating their growth and ready to present to prospective employers or clients.
Situated in New York City, a global center for media and technology, students have access to a wide range of internship opportunities across various industries, offering real-world experience that complements their academic studies.
The program's two concentrations, Television Production and Web Design & Development, have both seen significant success. In the Television Production concentration, students develop advanced storytelling and technical production skills, preparing them for careers in video production, streaming media, and digital content creation. The Web Design & Development concentration provides students with a strong foundation in interactive design and front-end web development, equipping them to build dynamic, user-friendly websites and applications. Graduates from both concentrations have gone on to successful careers in media production, digital marketing, web development, and beyond, with many becoming leaders in the ever-changing world of digital media.
