An anthropogenic impact on our environment due to over exploitation of natural resources caused by over population has created a variety of problems that require fundamental understanding of the natural systems. Therefore, predictions of metal(loid) transport processes in natural systems are a critical aspect of decision-making in risk assessment, and remediation strategies. My research is focused on environmental issues that require a fundamental understanding of the natural systems. I aim to advance our understanding of how physical, chemical and biological factors interact and control the fate and transport of contaminants in our ecosystem. My current research is to advance understanding on the hydrological and biogeochemical controls in mobilization of heavy metals and nutrients in natural waters. Field sampling programs and laboratory measurements are combined to study behaviors of these environmental elements in both fresh and salt waters.
