I currently work as a Human Rights Community Coordinator at the NYC Commission on Human Rights within the Community Relations Bureau.

My main role is to foster community engagement which includes forming partnerships with various Queens based local, city, non-profit organizations, schools and colleges to inform NYC residents about their protections under the NYC human rights law.

I also facilitate know your rights workshops on special topics such as employment, immigration, housing rights and bystander intervention strategies.

During my time at the Collaborative Learning Center, I learned about the importance of education and how truly impactful teaching can be.

As a community education major, working at the CLC taught me that one teaching style does not fit all and I must tailor my teaching skill to each student’s learning style.

The most valuable lesson learned in my experience as a tutor is that any student has the potential to learn if provided with the right amount of patience, guidance and encouragement. My time as a Writing tutor at CLC gave me the opportunity to work with immigrants, English learners and first generation students which truly sparked my interest in working with diverse groups. This experience inspired my decision to continue in public engagement, outreach and education. The experience gained during my time at CLC is life changing and I hope to take those same skills to teach abroad and work in international development in the future
