Maisel is a spot news specialist who is frequently referred to as, “The modern-day Weegee,”a reference to the legendary crime-scene photographer of the 1930’s and 1940’s. Maisel is a 12-time first-place winner of the New York Press Photographers Association Year-In-Pictures competition. In addition to serving as Board Director of the National Press Photographers Association, Maisel scours New York City on a daily basis for breaking news stories, relaying his exploits on Twitter and posting amazing breaking news photos as he shoots them.
