Food Insecurity Information

Hungry for Knowledge Food Access Initiatives

The "Hungry for Knowledge Food Pantry" provides a bag of food that will feed a family for several days. Please visit the webpage to make a reservation on our online system and come to room AC-3C01 to pick up a bag of food.

Hungry while on campus? Pick up a snack from our Grab-n-Go Food Station located directly outside our office in the Academic Core Building - Room 3C01.

Hours: Monday, Thursday, Friday - 9am - 5pm; Tuesday & Wednesday - 9am - 6:30pm

Fresh Produce Distributions are programmed during the Fall and Spring semesters.

While York College may not offer on-campus housing, other CUNY or off-campus housing may be available to you:

NYC Area Shelters

The Department of Homeless Services (DHS) provides temporary emergency housing to individuals and families and Intake Centers are available to begin the process of temporary to permanent housing pathways.

DHS Ombudsman

Assist with concerns, grievances, and accommodations needed for constituents residing in DHS residencies while experiencing homelessness.

Emergency Housing Services (EHS)

Available to individuals and families facing displacement due to fire or city-issued vacate orders.

Emergency Grants/Financial Resources

Petrie Fund Application

The York College’s Carroll and Milton Petrie Student Emergency Fund seeks to assist eligible students coping with unexpected hardship, so that they may continue their education at York College and become financially aware and responsible for their continued education.

NYC Financial Empowerment Center

FREE one-on-one professional financial counseling and coaching to support you in reaching your goals. Work with our counselors to:

Create a budget.
Establish or improve credit.
Set up a spending plan.
Open a safe and affordable bank account.
Contact lenders about debt, including student loans. Learn more about student loans at nyc.gov/StudentLoans
Develop a strategy to reduce debt or lower payments.
Access emergency government resources.
Separate personal and business finances.

HRA Emergency Assistance (One Shot Deals)

This assistance can be used to cover a number of situations. One of the most common uses of the one-shot deal is for rental assistance to prevent or forestall an eviction, moving costs, utility bills, and more based on qualifications.
