Services

We provide free, confidential counseling in-person and virtually for a range of concerns that are barriers to students' educational success. For counseling, students must be in the state of New York during their sessions.

Common Counseling Issues

Students come to the Counseling Center for a variety of concerns. Some include crisis assistance, academic difficulties, relationship issues, family struggles, or difficulties adjusting to college life.

Counseling is a confidential process designed to help you address your concerns, come to a greater understanding of yourself, and learn effective personal and interpersonal coping strategies.

Counseling may involve the sharing of sensitive, personal, and private information that may at times require you to push yourself outside of your emotional comfort zone. The outcome of counseling is often positive; however, the level of satisfaction for any individual is not predictable.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is a central value at the Counseling Center. As in any other healthcare facility, all of your counseling records are considered private and confidential and are protected by law. However, there are certain circumstances in which confidentiality may not be protected, such as when a student is a danger to self or others or when child or elder abuse is suspected.

No Cost

The services at the Counseling Center are free for all enrolled students.

Other Services Offered

The Counseling Center also offer a variety of additional resources that include programs, outreach activities, and psychoeducational workshops during “Wellness Wednesdays” that cover topics like anxiety, depression, procrastination, decision-making, relationships, conflict resolution and include other activities such as yoga, meditation, breathwork and mindfulness.
