Student Professional Development (Leadership) requirement:
Student Professional Development Requirement
All students must complete the professional development requirement before Student Teaching. Students can satisfy the leadership requirements in two ways:
Option 1
Candidates are required to attend at least three events within the York College Teacher Education Department. Attendance at events outside of the department must be approved by Professor Zena Cooper to count towards the requirement. For each event, candidates must have the student professional development form signed by a designated leader or faculty member in charge. Additionally, candidates must write a minimum of two paragraphs following the guiding prompts on the same form after each event.
Option 2
Examples of York Clubs or Organizations:
· Future Teachers Club
· Kappa Delta Pi
· Bilingual Pupil Services (BPS)
Events are emailed to students each semester.
