On this page you will find the schedule and registration links for both online and in-person hands-on workshops for faculty on Brightspace conducted by CTLET.

In August, we will conduct workshops for faculty on three topics listed below.

Building a Course from Scratch to be Ready for the First day of the Semester

This workshop provides a good overview of the Brightspace platform and guides you to set up your course so that it is ready for the start of the semester. It includes:

Customizing your BrS environment to meet your personal needs
Reviewing and managing your notification and account settings
Defining your course organization, sequence and navigation and implementing them
Posting syllabus and other course materials in text, audio or video format
Setting up the grade book (based on your grading policy stated in the syllabus)
Creating a syllabus quiz (to help students get most out of your syllabus)
Creating a discussion forum topic for students to introduce themselves
Viewing your course as a student
Making your course available to students
Posting a welcome announcement

Setting up the Grade Book

With Brightspace, if you use weighted total to calculate the course grades, it is best to set up the grade book first. In this workshop we will guide you to create grading categories based on your syllabus and connect grade columns to their respective categories.

Re-Using a Course Migrated from Bb

In this workshop we will guide you to copy the migrated course to your BrS course, review the copied content in your BrS course, fix the grade book issues with weighted total, update the availability and due dates.
