Training
CUNY's mandatory training courses for employees focus on critical areas such as sexual misconduct prevention, workplace violence, and ethics compliance. These training sessions ensure all staff are equipped with the knowledge to foster a safe, respectful, and ethical work environment.
By emphasizing legal compliance and best practices, CUNY strengthens its commitment to maintaining a culture of accountability and safety across the institution. Completion of these courses is required for all employees, reinforcing the university's dedication to upholding standards that protect both individuals and the campus community as a whole.
Mandatory Training Courses
In compliance with New York State law and CUNY Policies, CUNY employees are required to complete the following course trainings annually:
ESPARC | WPV | GBVT
- Employee Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Response Course (ESPARC) - Reporting sexual harassment, gender-based harassment and sexual violence;
- Work Place Violence (WPV); and,
- Gender Based Violence Training (GBVT) – Required of all Human Resources Professionals and campus supervisors and managers with at least one direct report. GBVT is provided to ensure a survivor-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive response for all employees experiencing domestic or gender-based violence.
These trainings are available to employees via CUNY’s Blackboard, which employees may access at any point during the duration of the academic year to begin these courses (once made available). To reduce any technical difficulties, employees should plan on completing each training in one sitting – this means not pausing and exiting the courses. Doing so may result in your completion not being recorded. All part time employees are responsible for completing the training by the end of the current semester to ensure their completion is logged by the University. All full-time employees will have until the end of the academic year to complete the trainings.
Ethics Training
The State of New York’s Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government (COELIG) requires all State employees (full and part-time) to complete ethics training on an annual basis. In order to bring all employees of York College into compliance, our office provides on-going periodic training sessions. Dates, times and registration links are shared via email, when available. Additional training is also provided by the New York State Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government (COELIG).
Please Note: The above mentioned trainings are those monitored by our office; CUNY & York College may require additional trainings, as necessary.
