Legal Affairs and Labor Relations
The Office of Legal Affairs and Labor Relations serves as counsel to York College and The Office of the President, in partnership with and under the direction of the CUNY Office of General Counsel.
Its mission is to ensure that York College operates in accord with applicable legal standards and best practices, and to provide advice and guidance to college officials on a wide range of legal matters.
Goals
- To evaluate campus practices to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- To provide guidance to York College officials and appropriate stakeholders on a wide range of legal matters.
- To provide training and workshops to faculty and staff.
- To respond to legal actions involving the campus in all venues
The Office's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, governance, ethical questions, collective bargaining issues, legal inquiries such as FOIL requests, contracts, grievances, discipline and litigation, and a broad range of policy questions affecting the College.
In addition, this office serves as the office of the College Ethics Officer, College Records Officer, and Labor Designee of the President.
